Lighting
This photo was taken at night while I was in Puerto Rico. It was taken during the evening right at sunset. My goal here was to capture a picture of this particular coastline at during sunset. My original plan was to try and get the sunset off the reflection of the water. However, I missed that opportunity and was presented with this one. In this photo I wanted to get the coastline with the soft natural light of the sunset. For me that meant I positioned myself so the light from the sun was off my left shoulder so I could catch the soft edges of the coast line and also the boat in the back part of the picture. This gives the photo a nice cool color as opposed to the bright warm ones.
This photo was also taken in Puerto Rico. As you can tell right away it's a lot different than the other one. For this photo I wait until the sun was right over head. I wanted this picture to be as bright as possible so you could see as many details in the shipwrecked boat as possible. I chose to go the route of the warmer more vibrant colors do to the fact that I have this boat to photograph. I wanted to share as much about what I saw with other people and the only way to do that was to have a bright natural even light source. It took some time to get this shot due to cloud cover but I really didn't want to use the flash so I waited it out. I prefer natural light as opposed to artificial because I believe it gives the viewer a more realistic view of what you are seeing.
